Central to our mission is a desire to help people learn where their food comes from and how they can reconnect with the land. The opportunities to do this at North Corner Haven are vast and varied, and they change with the seasons.

Our plan is to incorporate a wide range of engaging educational opportunities into our annual calendar. Each will be designed to help guests develop a sense of wonder, appreciation, and responsibility for the land that sustains us. Whether hosting school groups or facilitating farming workshops, we are excited to share what we’ve learned about the rich bounty offered by the Carolina soil.

Explore the farm and forest with us! As a guest, you can enjoy a seasonal tour of the farm and learn about our techniques for building it sustainably.

Each day and every season offers something different to explore. You might meet our Nigerian dwarf goats, pick a fresh persimmon, or see chickens foraging for food. Learn how mushrooms grow in a forest and what kinds of grass the cows like best. Sample honey from our very own beehives or try a handful of mulberries plucked right from the tree.

One thing is for certain: you’ll never get bored.

Based on the season, tour stops could include:
● The Maple Room, a 30-year-old planting of sugar maples in tidy rows
● Nigerian dwarf goats at the Livestock Shed
● Mobile chicken coops
● Forest-raised pigs
● Pastured cows
● Mushroom log operation
● Beehives
● Ponds
● Year round market garden
● Native piedmont forest
● The old farm homestead site

Nestled within our 625 acres are two well-stocked ponds, one six acres and the other ten. Bring your own rod and tackle or request the help of a local fishing guide as you test your angling skills in a relaxed, unhurried setting. Both ponds are stocked with enough bass and brim to keep you as busy as you like for the afternoon.

Skeet Shooting

Enjoy a truly Southern sport tradition with the help of one of our shooting pros. Our state-of the-art, solar-powered facility features five stands and is located in a tranquil, remote part of the forest. Seven different machines throwing endless combinations will keep you challenged with a variety of simulated flight paths.

Not shooting? Come to the five stand anyway and enjoy light refreshments and good conversation in our outdoor lounge.

Custom Discovery Sessions

As we approach our formal launch in the spring of 2018, we continue to develop a roster of engaging activities that can be customized for your group. This includes building a network of hiking trails and walking paths throughout the property, as well as designing unique, rewarding learning opportunities such as fresh flower arrangement and bonsai.

Interested in hiking our trails, foraging our forest, or other ways to enjoy the farm? Let us know what you’d like to discover. We’re here to help you build the perfect day outdoors.
